Quiet 4 star retreat on the beautiful island of La Gomera. A hotel with a stunning location, gardens and many activities.
This hotel has an absolutely stunning setting on top of a cliff overlooking the sea and Playa de Santiago. Services and Restaurants are situated in the main building, apart from the Beach Club described later. The rooms are set in beautiful mature grounds which contain hundreds of species of plants and flowers,
Rooms & Suites
Standard, Comfort and Superior Rooms are all the same size, the view being the difference. Junior suites have a sitting area. The family rooms, all in one area, are on two floors; each floor has an entrance door, larger bathroom with bedroom downstairs and very comfortable bed settee with small bathroom and shower upstairs, with limited kitchen facilities. The upstairs is totally enclosed with a separate entrance. The family area has its own swimming pool.
In the main building there is a buffet restaurant with large outside terrace overlooking the gardens and sea. There is a much more formal restaurant opposite the main reception.
The main pool area has a barbeque café serving lunches.
Down at sea level there are two further restaurants at the Club Laurel, the Barbeque one serving lunches and dinner (clients on half board pay a supplement for some courses) plus the 5 Forks a la carte Restaurant, half board clients paying a supplement on all meals. The Club Laurel itself is accessed from the main part of the hotel via lifts travelling through solid rock.
Facilities and things to do.
The hotel has the quite simple Bouganvilla Health Club offering spa facilities, gym, sauna, massage and beauty salon.
There are 5 tennis courts in the grounds, grass and hard court, coaching can be arranged. Other facilities include a diving school on site, table tennis, squash and shooting. There is an 18-hole golf course with reduced green fees nearby.
A daily entertainment programme offers regular evening shows and dancing etc. There is a mini club for children and playground. There are three freshwater heated pools plus a children’s pool. There is a further seawater pool down at the Laurel Beach Club.
The hotel obviously attracts those who wish a quiet holiday in the sun, particularly in the winter months. The hotel caters well for families. Golf and tennis are an attraction and walking and hiking are popular. Many go to explore the National Park of Garajonay in its centre; La Gomera is an extinct volcano and is thoroughly unspoilt.
Playa de Santiago is a small attractive town, which clients can walk to using the elevators and a path via the Club Laurel. Boats leave the harbour for San Sebastian and other areas on the island.
Arrangements are made to meet clients at Tenerife airport and taken to Los Christianos (not far away) for the 40 minute crossing to San Sebastian on La Gomera. You are then taken by taxi on a spectacular mountain road to the Jardin Tecina Hotel, about 40 minutes drive. Sometimes it is necessary to stay overnight at Tenerife depending on flight timings.
The hotel can successfully be twinned with holidays both in the North and South of Tenerife. Ask for details.
