The Fairmont Empress Hotel at Victoria – Classical Beauty at its best
The Empress is located in the centre of Victoria with wonderful views over the inner harbour.
Rooms and Suites
Each room features in the hotel complimentary coffee and tea, flat screen TV and high speed internet access.
Fairmont Rooms are a decent size including a sitting area, and depending on bed type can accommodate up to 4 persons, with views of the city or inner courtyard.
Deluxe Rooms are even larger with a larger sitting area and can accommodate up to 5 persons, with views of the city or inner courtyard. There are also some Deluxe Rooms with harbour view.
All suites are around 500 sq ft (unless stated otherwise) at least and consist of:
Signature Suites (distinctive layout, furnishings and position in hotel) normally have one King Bed and several sitting areas, with views over the harbour.
Junior Suites are in open studio style with a separate distinctive sitting area with city or inner courtyard view.
One Bed roomed Suites with City or Harbour View and the much larger Two Bed roomed Suites (over 1000 sq ft overall) with full or partial harbour view.
Fairmont Gold for the discerning Business or Leisure Guest
Fairmont Gold guests at the Empress have access to separate check in and luxury lounge on the 2nd floor where they can also have fresh fruit and complimentary beverages throughout the day. Alcoholic drinks you sign for. Complimentary breakfast (mainly continental but with meats and cheeses and one hot dish) are served here. You enjoy superb views of Victoria’s harbour. Hordeuvres are served with drinks for a couple of hours in an evening. A dedicated concierge service is available as well.
Fairmont Gold Rooms, Junior Suites, 1 and 2 Bed roomed Suites and other facilities have all recently received a multimillion makeover.
The Veranda, situated just under the arches at the front of the hotel, offers light dining, drinks and snacks from lunchtime until early evening; guests enjoy wonderful view and sunsets.
At the adults only Bengal Lounge you step back in time to colonial Victorian times in India. As well as a la carte the daily curry buffet together with live jazz entertainment, this restaurant is considered the best on the island, and with the best menu choices.
The former grand ballroom is now The Empress Restaurant for guests wanting to experience elegance romance or for a special celebration
The Empress is well known for its delicious Afternoon Teas; children can enjoy their special Prince or Princess teas.
Facilities and things to do.
The hotel’s Health Club includes a heated indoor swimming pool and whirlpool and of course is complimentary to hotel guests.
The Willow Stream Spa is ranked as one of the top spas in Canada and part of their Spa Ritual includes a Finnish Steam Room, Detoxifying Hot Sauna, and Hungarian Thermal Mineral Bath.
Whale watching excursions leave from Victoria’s harbour and the famous Butchart gardens are only 30 minutes away.

The Empress is located in the centre of Victoria and has its own rose garden which fully blooms in July and August. Convenient for visiting shops, the various museums and other sites in Victoria. There are also excellent pubs and restaurants nearby.
Through Coach Transport is available for airline passengers to and from Vancouver International Airport at Victoria Bus Station behind the hotel and normally takes two hours plus using the Swartz Bay – Tsawwassen Ferry Service (1 hour 30 minutes on ferry).
There are is also regular seaplane departures from the Victoria Harbour to Coal Harbour in Downtown Vancouver next to the Vancouver Cruise Terminal, normally taking around 30 minutes. There are other Seaplane excursions to other places of interest.
