Quantum of the Seas Cruise Ship | Designer Travel

Having recently cruised on board Royal Caribbean’s wonderful Quantum of the Seas, I can honestly say in one word WOW. I was a little apprehensive prior to my holiday as I had heard mixed reports about the new dining concept ( Dynamic Dining) but any doubts were soon pushed aside when I experienced the whole thing for myself.

I sailed from Dubai to Singapore ( see earlier blog ) on a repositioning cruise on the second newest addition to the Royal Caribbean fleet…. with many ‘firsts at sea’ they really have gone one step beyond. Skydiving, dodgem cars, a robotic bar and the jewel shaped capsule ‘North Star’ are just some of the all new activities that you wouldn’t expect to find on a cruise ship.

North Star gives you 360 degree views from the pod which rises over 300 feet above sea level. The pod takes around 14 people at a time and takes approximately 30 minutes to take you up over and around the whole ship with spectacular views of both the ship, ports of call and for miles out to sea (obviously when at sea).

There is a choice of 4 swimming pools, plus the flowrider for any surfers, 1 of the pools is indoor and another has a retractable roof so even if the sun doesn’t shine you can still relax around the pool area. 10 Jacuzzis are spread around the ship, a rock climbing wall, roller skating, table tennis, amusements, nintendo wii games are just some of the activities on offer.

Add to this a choice of 18 dining options, no less than 15 bars to choose from and 4 entertainment venues you will never be stuck for finding things to keep the whole family entertained.

Cabins are great too – I had a balcony cabin which was really nice but even the inside cabins on the ship have a ‘virtual balcony’ which is another ‘first at sea’  each one has floor-ceiling HD LED screen  providing real-time ocean- and port views throughout your cruise.
