Kos, a step back in time

Kos, a step back in time

In July I set off from Manchester airport on on our annual family holiday taking with me with my partner and my seven year old daughter.  I chose Kos as I have travelled to Greece on a number of occasions and always had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. We were all looking forward to sunshine, a great beach and the warm Mediterranean. As a family we love the beach and always enjoy the warm balmy evenings and any entertainment that we can find that caters for all the family. This year we chose an all inclusive resort - Tingaki, a short bus ride away from Kos Town (about 15 minutes and a bargain at just one euro). This resort and having access to Kos Town proved to be an ideal combination for us all. During the day we spent time by the pool enjoying the entertainment - the kids club was fantastic according to my daughter who went adventure trekking, enjoyed a chocolate party and even took part in a treasure hunt! When it came to the evening we had dinner in the hotel most nights but when we fancied a changed we walked down into Tingaki - just a mile away where there was an abundance of Greek Tavernas and very nice bars. We top the bus into Kos Town twice, the bus stops directly outside the hotel. Once in Kos Town the choice of what to do was the biggest decision we had to make all holiday........ We discovered some great bars by the harbour where we had the chance to watch the world go by. There were lots of cobbled streets with little shops and my daughter had her hair braided whilst she was there. The Museum Restaurant provided an ideal location to chill out and sample some really good Greek food at brilliant prices......they were fantastic with my daughter, so much so she wanted to go back again. Whilst we were there we made the most of our time by hiring out a car and a scooter which gave us the chance to discover different beaches. I would particularly recommend Kos for families, couples looking for a romantic getaway and for single travellers. In fact Kos has something to offer everyone. Hot tips: You can take an excursion to Bodrum in Turkey for the day and sample their spice markets and other shopping.
