HOLIDAY IDEA –  Sri Lanka Tour, Beach and Dubai

Visit Sri Lanka with its pristine golden beaches combined with bustling Dubai.

This holiday has been specially designed to offer the client a hassle free experience and would be suitable for HONEYMOON COUPLES.

 Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a tropical island with pristine golden beaches, well maintained national parks and emerald green tea plantations.  It is also home to much wild life including elephants. Many UK visitors are attracted to the island not only for its beauty and history, but the destination also offers the tourist excellent value no matter what grade of accommodation is booked.

Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage

Your holiday starts with a private car and driver and includes a visit to the famous Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and the ancient city of Kandy. The orphanage is for breeding wild elephants situated in the northwest of the town of Kegalle. Originally founded in the 1970s, the orphanage provides care and protection to the many orphaned elephants found in the jungle and now has over 80 elephants.

 Ancient capital of Kandy

Not far away is Kandy the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings which is a World Heritage site. Here you will find the magnificent Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens first built as a pleasure garden by a famous king and then extended by the British during their colonial rule. The gardens offer 147 acres of beautiful trees, plants and flowers. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore have been kept alive in Kandy and the visitor should also include visits around Kandy Lake, the town itself and bazaar, the arts centre, gem museum and lapidary, and to the famous Temple of the Tooth.

 Suggested Holiday Itinerary

This holiday has been specially designed to offer clients a hassle free experience, avoiding extra long distances which can be a problem with many other holidays that are offered in Sri Lanka. The stopover at Dubai breaks up the return journey nicely before returning home. It would be particularly suitable for HONEYMOON COUPLES and others who want a mixture of holiday experiences at an attractive price.

Kegalle – 3 nights including day visits to the Elephant Orphanage & Kandy

Fly from the UK via Dubai to Colombo. You are met by your private car and driver who will stay with you until you reach your beach resort on the fourth day. After a couple of hours drive you reach the beautiful  Estate House at Rosyth at Kegalle for a 3 night stay giving you the opportunity to experience the beauty of rural Sri Lanka.  The ‘house’ is set in 62 acres of a private working tea and rubber estate. Originally built in 1926 but thoroughly modernised in traditional style it offers a delightful pool, outdoor sala and stunning dining room. Perched on a hillside, the hotel rewards guests with stunning views from the front verandah towards Kandy. During your stay you are taken to the elephant orphanage in time for the 1pm feeding on the second day (25 mins each way) and to Kandy the third day (60mins each way); your knowledgeable driver guide following your own timetable with suggestions of what you may wish to see.

Kogolla – 8 nights at the beach

On the fourth day drive to The Fortress Hotel at Kogolla for an 8 night stay in an Ocean Room situated on the 1st floor with a balcony (just over 4 hours drive). All 49 rooms in the hotel are state of the art; what you would expect in an ultra luxury 5 star hotel, but cleverly blended to complement a Dutch and Portuguese style of architecture. As you would expect, the hotel offers an array of treatments at its spa. The resort’s walls enclose beautiful gardens and stunning water features. The Fortress is 25 minutes away from Sri Lanka’s interesting fort city, Galle.   Your driver guide leaves you on arrival at Kogolla.

 Dubai for 3 nights

After 11 nights in Sri Lanka you are provided with a private transfer from Kogolla to Colombo Airport, about two hours on the new expressway, for your flight to Dubai. On arrival at Dubai another private transfer takes you to the JA Ocean View Hotel for a 3 night stay in a Sea View Room. This new 4 star hotel occupies a marvellous position on The Walk, a waterfront promenade at the heart of Jumeriah Beach Residences. Here on your doorstep you will find a great choice of shops, restaurants and cafes as well as a mixture of Western and Arabic entertainment. Many art works by 30 local artists are now being incorporated or displayed in this area. Guests may enjoy the public beach or there is a free shuttle to their sister 5 star property with a private beach at the JA Golf resort. A private transfer is provided to Dubai airport for your return to the UK.

This holiday has been based on Emirates flights ex UK flying not only from London but several regional airports as well.  A recent off-season 2014 price from Manchester was £2032 per person for this 14 night holiday including flights, private tour as described and any entrance fees, half board at Kegalle and bed and breakfast at Kogolla and Dubai.
