Bike tours around Santa Monica | Designer Travel

I was very excited to have visiting Los Angeles and surrounding beach resorts this year.

One lovely experience I had whilst there was taking an escorted bike ride around the beautiful beach town of Santa Monica. We hired bikes from the famous Perry’s Cafe( they do fantastic fish tacos!!). We cycled along the beach path to the Pier and carousel , passing Muscle beach where you can work out if you like !

We then headed up into town, Santa Monica is split into different areas, we took in Main street with its excellent shopping areas, Also pushing our bikes through the pedestrianised third street where there are more shops and Farmers markets. We stopped for coffee in  one of the many coffee shops  In Ocean park, which is more bohemian.

We cycled through the tree lined residential area where the houses are beautiful and and all different, it was pointed out where some of the famous Hollywood legends had lived !.

We  then made our way back along the sea front passing all the lovely parks that line the beach, people were having wedding photos done, children were playing and we saw  lots of dog walkers, it really is a lovely town.

Our tour ended at Perry’s at the beach cafe where we had a lovely lunch ( fish Tacos see above) and met the charismatic owner who started the chain 37 years ago. From here you can hire bikes , take surf lessons and generally enjoy beach life !

If you get the chance you must include Santa Monica in your California trip !
