Barbados - best holiday ever!

I have to say, my husband and I loved our holiday to Barbados when we visited the island.  Easy to get to with direct flights out of Gatwick with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic and only taking 8 hours or so to reach. A very popular island to visit in the Caribbean and is actually affectionately known as Little Britain as it has a charm and personality of its own.  I would say you have to hire a jeep as we did and go out and explore the island as there is so much more than just lying out by the pool or beach and enjoying the sunshine!  Nice as that may be with your cocktail in hand... Make sure you head inland and you will find the Barbados Wildlife Reserve where you will find alligators, tortoises, deer and monkeys all roaming free.  Then head to the very dramatic North Point which is where the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean meet and then take a trip down into the Animal Flower Caves.  Also a big must is doing an island safari and watching the surfers and windsurfers on the east coast of the island where the Atlantic waves crash against the shore. If you are looking for some lively nightlife then look no further than St Lawrence Gap.  Here you will find great bards, restaurants and the Ship Inn which has nightly entertainment until the early hours of the morning.  On a Friday join the fish fry in Oistins which takes place every Friday and is where locals and visitors come together in the little south coast fishing village to eat freshly cooked flying fish, all washed down with a bottle of cold Banks Beer! Lastly, I really enjoyed our catamaran cruise from the beach where our hotel was located and cruised up the west coast of the island where we spotted turtles and could also swim with them if we wanted to. Barbados really is a wonderful island that gives you the opportunity for sightseeing when you want it, fantastic Bajan hospital and fabulous beaches to relax on.  Who wouldn't want to go there?
